I just comment for support and amusement.... On on hand you ask for help end of govt wont help you, another department forbids you from trying new things they have not certified you to use and in the end you are forced to burn the equipment which in turn brings another department of govt to give you a fine for burning painted wood products. Which in turn tells another department you had a fire and this puts you over your carbon allotment for the year and now you get fine for pollution. Seems to be all but forgotten you are trying to raise bees. Keep you chin up . cheers

What has your experience been with using honey bees to pollinate canola fields? I'm sure it makes for great canola but what kind of effort do you have to go through to harvest canola honey? I have heard that you have to get to canola honey quickly or it will crystallize in the comb and make it hard to recover. Do you have any thoughts?

I use Apigaurd in August after I pull honey supers.

Randy Oliver's research has shown if you leave the wrapper on the upper half of the pad, you slow the release of formic enough to have it work and not have a major kill off. That said. Placing the pad on top of the second and having the reflectics directly on top is the same in theory. If actually like to see how two pads would do like this. Maybe next year you can trial that method.

Having used it when it’s new and towards the end of its expiry date it is a different beast towards the end. It’s a much hotter treatment and results in higher Queen loss, the in the odd occasion I found the Queen on the outside of the hive.

I would give them the patties and a little bit of syrup. You know when they emerge they will need to make the fat stores in the body and the syrup to not slow down right now. To me it looks like it will take time for those plants to produce.. but what do I know watching from here. If l could l would switch my entire operation to those 3×6 sistem. But it's late now.. There were a few farmers in my area of East Tennessee that tried growing canola for a couple of years. I heard they stopped because it was expensive to keep pests off the plants. It was beautiful to see!

😮I’ve heard that people have had issues with Formic Pro- I just added my 2 strips last Wednesday for 14 days. -I leave foil on the top of the pad, supposed to slow the 💥harsh, fast flash off. -I also remove my entrance reducer -I take out my “inspection tray” from my Screened Bottom Board -I add an additional empty Super to aid in overall ventilation on the hive. -I have Broodminder sensors in my Hives-Bees are doing okay. -My local temperatures range from 58-63 degrees. 🤞 Good Luck.
